Your life is so great! Tell me all about it so I can live vicariously through you! Let's change the narrative. Your life is so great! Tell me all about how you made it happen so I can learn from you.
Instead of focusing on what others have, take those gold nuggets of wisdom and apply them towards your life. Think for a moment about someone that you want to be like or are envious of. What's the reason? Are they rich, famous, successful, stylish, adventurous, strong? This can be someone that you know or someone that you don't know.
What traits and qualities do they possess that you think you don't have? What are you really envious of? Let's take an example of a famous singer. What is it about their life that you don't have but want? Is it the fame? Is it the wealth? Is it the freedom? Is it their personality that you like? Are they philanthropic? Do you want to be a singer?
What about their life don't you like? Would you want to be on tour 150-250 days a year? Would you want to have to leave after a concert just to hop on a jet (albeit a private jet) to get to your next concert venue? Do you value your privacy? Do you want the paparazzi and fans interrupting everything that you do in public? What about all of the negative comments that you have to endure?
Make a list. Write it down. Which column is longer?
There are a couple of things that I want you to get from this exercise.
More than likely you don't want to be exactly like the person that you admire or envy.
You now have a pretty good idea of what it is that you do want.
You also should have a pretty good idea of what you don't want.
What were some of the things that you wanted. Let's assume that you like that they are successful, adventurous, stylish, rich, passionate about their career and give back to the community.
Start a new list. Write down the reasons that you can't have each of those things. It might look like this:

You might be thinking "Well this is depressing. I'll never achieve this!" Flip that thinking. In business, one of the greatest assets you can have is to find a problem or weakness. What makes you a valuable employee is presenting that problem with solutions to fix it. Why can't you apply this to your life. You now now exactly what is holding you back.
Change your narrative and switch it up to ways you can overcome your obstacles

Now it's time to pick one of those qualities, tackle those excuses and come up with an action plan!
